Welcome Back!
Back of the Classroom returns from the (metaphorical) dead
You may have noticed that I’ve been awfully quiet...well, I’ve been studying to be a secondary teacher. And now that I’ve finished my theory papers, I have some thinking room to share my thoughts with you all!
I’m still a teacher aide (at a different public high school) and still affirm the importance of teacher aides in the classroom, in schools and in our communities.
However, this blog will expand its focus to also include:
initial teacher education, and
early career teaching (mainly secondary English - my main teaching area).
As a preview, I’ve got lots of thoughts about:
AI use in schools
education research
ambitious and unrealistic plans involving zombies
ideas for how to better leverage teacher aides in schools
I look forward to connecting with old friends (and new); and fumbling my way along, in typical naive fashion.
Thanks for staying with me.

What an exciting update! I started my job as a teacher aide at the start of the year. Being in and amongst so many different classroom environments, teachers, subjects and students has got me thinking about pursuing further study for secondary teaching. I look forward to hearing your perspective as someone who has ventured down that pathway.
