About me
I’m a new teacher aide and given my neurodiverse superpowers, have decided to dive headfirst into the industry through research, training, discussions with long-serving colleagues, teachers, trainers and parents.
In addition, I’ve started writing this blog.
You get to benefit from the wake of my special interest.
It is my hope that this blog can contribute to teacher aide best practice; improve the conditions and esteem of teacher aides in the community; and ultimately, provide a better quality education for students.
The Queensland Public Service Code of Conduct states:
“Like any other citizen, we have the right to contribute to public discussions on community and social issues in our private capacity.”
To be very clear:
the writing on this blog represents my personal thoughts only, and not Queensland government.
I reference information that is publicly available, and when I do include internal links, they will be behind a paywall and ONLY eligible Education workers will be able to access, and
I write in good faith: where I identify an issue, I suggest solutions; I focus on systemic issues (not individuals); and I am open to corrections when words I have published are harmful, inaccurate or misleading.
Do I need a paid subscription?
Not really. The majority of blog posts are free to the public and anybody can email me at teacheraideqld@gmail.com. The only benefit of a paid subscription is:
You can comment on blog posts and share your thoughts;
You will gain access to paid blog posts. These posts are specific to a Queensland public school context and will be super helpful to orient teacher aides.
Think a compiled list of links, contextual information about the intranet, professional development ideas, questions/comments about increments, posts about the union etc. - basically everything I wish I had access to when I first started!
